Play chess online with World Chess, the official gaming platform of the International Chess Federation (FIDE). Challenge real players, solve daily chess puzzles and find stronger moves, one game at a time.
Whether you want a quick multiplayer chess game or a calmer way to practice, make this classic strategy board game part of your day.
Play chess online, your way
Enjoy online chess games with opponents around the world. Choose bullet and blitz chess for fast decisions, or rapid games for more thinking time. Play rated matches to build your online rating, or keep it casual with unrated games. The built-in chess clock and game timer set the pace.
Challenge your friends
Play chess with friends wherever you are. Send an invite and enjoy two-player chess online, each on your own device. One board, two rivals, plenty of reasons for a rematch.
Chess for beginners and beyond
Learn chess through hands-on practice. Pick a bot at your level and build confidence against the computer, without the pressure of a human opponent. Try chess openings and new ideas in a bot game before taking them into multiplayer.
Daily puzzles. Sharper tactics.
Solve chess puzzles, spot threats and look for the move that changes everything. Work on forks, pins and checkmate patterns through hands-on practice. Make chess training a daily habit, whether you have time for one puzzle or a longer challenge.
Your post-game chess coach
Turn "where did I go wrong?" into something you can use. Built-in chess analysis and game review help you spot blunders, find better moves and understand the turning points. Take what you learn into the next match instead of repeating the same mistake.
Official online chess rating
Build your Online Elo, recognized by FIDE. Join chess tournaments and challenge yourself beyond casual games. Ready for the next goal? PRO members can pursue official Arena titles by meeting the qualification requirements:
Arena Candidate Master (ACM) - 1100 points
Arena FIDE Master (AFM) - 1400 points
Arena International Master (AIM) - 1700 points
Arena Grandmaster (AGM) - 2000 points
These are FIDE Online Arena titles, awarded for online play - not over-the-board FIDE titles.
Can I play for free?
Yes. Play free chess online against real opponents in rated and unrated games. Some training features have daily limits; a subscription unlocks additional access and benefits.
